Quality recognizes that for best cell potency and maximal cell integrity, cells need full-time optimization of all critical cell process parameters O2/ROS, CO2/pH, RH/osmolarity, and temperature. Full time is best process control possible and means not just part-time during incubation in bioreactors or incubators, but also during handling, machine processing, and transport. The Xvivo System model X2 Platform does this now.

Quality recognizes that all typical negative side-effects of machines on cells (particles, heat, vibration, etc.) must be neutralized to make all analytic, process, and automation equipment compatible with a cell optimized ecosystem. Machines must also operate aseptically and be protected themselves from dust, aerosols, and corrosion. The Platform does this now.

Quality recognizes that cells express their genetic program and interact with neighboring cells best if normal physiologic conditions are simulated as closely as possible. Especially oxygen should be controllable over the wide physiologic range 0.1 – 15.0%, and even higher when necessary to drive a steep oxygen diffusion gradient. The other critical process parameters of CO2, RH, and temperature also need a wide range of control for physiologic conditions and other purposes. The Platform does this now.
Quality recognizes that cells and cell populations are dynamic entities not static. Critical process parameters should be equipped with programmable controls which can change the process precisely and deliberately over time in order to keep up with cells. The Platform does this now.
